Our Beginnings
The SACCAWU Benevolent Fund was born from the collective vision of union members in the catering industry who recognized the growing cost of living and the need for mutual support. Under the Friendly Societies, SACCAWU members in the Tourism and Hospitality sector came together to create a fund that would allow them to contribute small monthly subscriptions and, in return, access vital benefits during life’s most challenging moments.
Today, the Fund stands as a pillar of solidarity — offering assistance in times of ill health, maternity leave, retirement, and bereavement. It reflects SACCAWU Benevolent Fund’s enduring commitment to care, dignity, and financial security for every member when they need it most.
